Overview

Welcome to Resources for Rethinking’s searchable database of children’s books for young learners. This inventory is being created to assist teachers in their efforts to promote literacy through engaging stories that explore important sustainability themes. All of the materials featured have been reviewed by teachers and recommended for use with specific subjects and age groups.  Most books are available through  municipal and provincial library systems.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation was established to address the underfunding of Canadian school libraries and the literacy crisis. Love of Reading provides grants for the purchase of new books and education resources to high-needs elementary schools.

The Canadian Children's Book Centre

The Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) is a national, not-for-profit organization founded in 1976. They are dedicated to encouraging, promoting and supporting the reading, writing, illustrating and publishing of Canadian books for young readers. Their programs, publications, and resources help teachers, librarians, booksellers and parents select the very best for young readers.
